In everyday usage, PST is often referred to as Pacific Time (PT) or the Pacific Time Zone. This can add a bit of confusion as the term Pacific Time does not differentiate between standard time and Daylight Saving Time, so Pacific Time switches between PST and PDT in areas that use DST during part of the year.
California uses Pacific Standard Time (PST) during standard time and Pacific Daylight Time (PDT) during Daylight Saving Time (DST). California shares its time zone and DST schedule with bordering states Oregon and Nevada.
Nepal and a part of Russia are officially 12 hours ahead of you. Parts of China would be too, but the government has the whole country following Beijing time. That means that those in the west start at times that would be considered afternoon in Beijing, but are actually morning there.
There are about four states in the Pacific time zone. Those states are California, the western counties of Idaho, Nevada, Oregon except most of Malheur County, and Washington.
The region that is farthest ahead of California are the islands in the Western Pacific, just on the far side of the 180th meridian, and that's 21 hours ahead. Any closer than that, and you'd be behind California, not ahead.
