Should I level up all characters in Octopath Traveler? ›

If you're talking about the sequel, there's an extra chapter at the end that requires you to beat every character's story. If you get everyone at the beginning and swap them around semi-regularly, you'll never need to grind at all.

TLDR: Owl = Female character with good elemental coverage and break capability but less damage pairs well with supportive hunter. Dog = Male character with Great Physical damage and can hit caits, pairs well with offensive hunter.

I loved everything about the first game EXCEPT the mind numbing excessive brainless grinding. It forced me to abandon the game. I came back to it to try to complete the story lines, but couldn't do it.

Guide is a recurring path action. Guide is Ophilia Clement's Path Action in Octopath Traveler. This ability allows Ophilia to guide and escort certain non-playable characters in the game, and lead to them to various locations. This Path Action is the noble counterpart to Primrose's Path Action, Allure.

A) Does it matter which order I do things? Not much. Whichever character you start with is fixed in your party until you complete their story, and has some unique dialogue in the final chapter. Beyond that, you're pretty free to do everything, in any order.

They're both good games, can't go wrong with either. I'd say I got more enjoyment out of Octopath 2, but it's arguably my GotY choice so maybe there's some bias there. Triangle Strategy is a lot of fun as well, and any fan of tactics games will find it really raises the bar for the genre.

Another great choice to start Octopath Traveler with is Therion, as he can steal HP and SP from enemies, saving valuable items. While not as solid a choice as Cyrus, players will find the start of the game a bit easier with him.
