Atlanta Braves Reveal Disturbing New Mascot (2024)
The Atlanta Braves new mascot is named Blooper. Take a second to think about that. The Braves went from having a mascot named Homer to Blooper. Whether that is considered a lucky base hit blooper or a laughable reel is unknown and neither are exactly flattering.
Blooper as a name alone is slightly concerning so considering how strongly social media reacted to the mascot’s new look alone tells you how bad it truly was. Blooper looks like a very pale and lesser version of the Phillies Phanatic.
The rip off in itself is obvious and would be somewhat forgivable if not for the fact that the Braves are downgrading their mascot while imitating the Phillies in a poor manner and naming it Blooper…
Blooper may be named correctly for the Braves current lineup, considering the current lack of power. The name and look combined are hard to stomach or to understand what the Braves where thinking designing the new look.
The Braves may now truly have the worst mascot in sports. While we all understand how of a tough job that the Braves have to create a mascot that is politically correct any four year old with a crayon would have a better shot to create a popular mascot.
Social media has been less than kind to Blooper so far and that will likely be the case as long as he remains the mascot.
Blooper is a poor mascot that if the Braves are lucky no one will be paying attention to with the emergence of a young Ronald Acuna and a lineup full of young position players who will be looking to take a leap forward in 2018.
Blooper succeeded the Braves' "Homer the Brave" mascot after he went into retirement. According to the Braves, he's a "product of science run amok", meaning Blooper is everything that makes a Braves' superfan that came out of a machine.
