Is Bing Maps better than Google Maps? ›

Bing Maps can render a lot more data than Google Maps and can do so just as fast, if not faster. When dealing with small data sets on a standard browser this might not be that noticeable but if you need to display a large data set or are using a mobile browser this increased performance makes a big difference.

Driving Directions

Bing Maps actually has one of the fastest routing algorithms. You can select to avoid or minimize toll roads or highways on your journey. It also calculates driving or public transportation directions from nearby major roads to a particular location.

Bing Maps releases new data every 3-4 months but sometimes there's a bit of delay in the platform because it goes through a quality control process before it is integrated into Bing Maps. You may check the thread below for more information.

Bing Maps for Enterprise will be retired on June 30, 2028. Existing Bing Maps for Enterprise customers can continue to license Bing Maps for Enterprise APIs and SDKs until June 30, 2028. We will however no longer be accepting new Bing Maps for Enterprise customers from June 30, 2024.

Unfortunately, Bing has a few disadvantages. It doesn't give directions for bikers which is a no-no for city goers and is limited on Map apps. In addition Bing Search apps results show fewer mapping results.

For general navigation, Google Maps is the most reliable and easy to use. However, there are apps that specialize in specific categories. For example, for field sales routes or field services, Badger Maps is the best all-in-one navigation app.

Bing Impresses with Image and Visual Search

While Google offers users a wider selection of images and an Advanced Search function for helpful filtering, Bing offers higher-quality images with more detailed information than Google.

This isn't surprising, considering the huge difference in Bing users vs. Google users. As of 2023, Google held 83% of the search engine market share, compared with Bing's 9%. However, Bing also powers Yahoo! Search, which gives it an extra 2.7%.

Why Google Earth Isn't Real-Time. The truth is, Google Earth's images are outdated by months, if not years. These images undergo intensive processing, caching, and various updates before they land on your screen. Therefore, expecting a real-time view is setting yourself up for disappointment.

Is there a real live satellite view? ›

The World in Real-Time global map utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to provide a live satellite view of select data from geostationary and polar-orbiting NOAA satellites and partner satellites of the Earth from space.

Search. The most up-to-date free satellite maps come from NOAA GOES, JMA Himawari-8, EUMETSAT Meteosat, GIBS, Suomi-NPP, MODIS Aqua, and Terra. Historical archives of the provider are credited to Bing and Esri.

Google Maps has better quality satellite and aerial images that incorporate more locations because of its use of satellites. Google also has more features such as traffic information, more detailed location information, maps of indoor locations, and embedded maps.

For privacy, choose OpenStreetMaps, Apple Maps, or Here WeGo. For offline use, we recommend Sygic, Maps.me, or OsmAnd. For multi-stop route planning, consider Routific, Route4Me, or RoadWarrior. For live traffic info, look at Waze, ViaMichelin, or Bing Maps.
