Q: What is included in an eye exam?

A: In addition to your time with the optometrist, your eye exam includes several pre-tests including a Visual Acuity Test (also known as an eye chart), auto refraction which provides a base prescription, and a glaucoma screening. You will then meet with the optometrist where he or she will be able to evaluate your eyes with the latest in eye health technology and determine an accurate prescription.

Q: How often do I need a contact lens exam?

A: Eye exams are an important diagnostic tool that should be a part of your overall annual health check-up. We recommend getting an eye exam once a year. If you have certain health conditions, your doctor or optometrist may recommend eye exams on a more regular basis.

Q: How do I know if I need an eye exam?

A: We recommend everyone get an eye exam annually. However, if you are currently experiencing vision changes, blurry vision, recurring headaches, eye pain or strain, or seeing spots, it’s definitely time to schedule an eye exam.

Q: Will I get a copy of my prescription?

A: Yes, you will receive a copy of your prescription at the end of your eye exam. If you are being fitted for contact lenses, your finalized prescription will be provided after your follow-up exam.

Q: How should I prepare for my eye exam?

A: To save time in the store, please complete your paperwork online before your appointment. Please bring your current eyewear (contacts box or glasses). If you have vision insurance, we ask that you bring your insurance card with you.

Q: Is a contact lens exam different from a glasses exam?

A: Optometrists perform the same tests during a contact lens exam as they would a glasses exam. However, a contact lens exam also includes a contact lens fitting and evaluation as well as a follow-up exam after you have worn your new trial contacts for a specified period of time.
