Open the cover on the fuse box. Most switches will still be in the “on” position so its easy to spot which one has tripped because it will be showing as “off”. Don't be nervous, just raise the switch back to the on position. You should notice lights and power coming back on straight away.

Since eFuses do not sacrifice their pass element, they can immediately be reset with a signal from the system by either cycling the supply power or by simply waiting if auto-retry is used. The equipment's uptime is maximized and the cost and complexity of maintenance are reduced.

Push that switch all the way to the “-off” position. Then push it all the way to the -on position. That should reset the circuit and restore power to it. If it trips again, you may have a problem with an outlet, a problem with an appliance or a wiring issue.

Go around the house noting which set of lights or sockets are not working. Unplug all appliances on that problem circuit and switch off any immersion heaters (if you have one). Switch the tripped switch to the ON position and plug in the appliances one by one until the trip goes again.

Flip the switch to off position, and then flip it to the on position. Wait a moment to see if the breaker stays in the on position. If it does, the circuit breaker is reset and should restore power. If the switch doesn't stay in the on position, it indicates a serious wiring problem.

RESET. Complete a full reset of your fuse box by turning off the main larger switches and then all your smaller switches, repeat the process but start with turning your smaller switches on first and the larger ones last.

Manually resettable circuit breakers remain in the open position until a button, lever or other external reset device is manually depressed. Type III circuit breakers are typically used in applications where a manual reset is desired for safe diagnosis of a circuit fault.

Unlike a circuit breaker, a blown fuse can't be switched back on. To fix it, you will need to replace the fuse with one of the same amperage rating (more on this below).

The usual reason why a circuit breaker does not reset is that it is still overloaded. Unplug all the appliances connected to the circuit and try again to reset it. If this does not solve the situation, there might be a short circuit. This means the hot wire connected to the breaker is touching the neutral wire.

Before replacing a consumer unit, it is worth noting that an old fuse box is neither illegal nor inherently dangerous.

Remove the blown fuse. Unscrew the damaged fuse and replace it with a fuse of the exact same size, amperage, and type. Screw in the fuse in the same location. Restore power to the fuse box by flipping the main power switch.

With the main power still off, unscrew the blown fuse and remove it. It's important to replace the fuse with another of the same size, type, rating, and amperage. Never replace a blown fuse with one of a higher amperage, which can be dangerous or can cause damage to your electrical panel wiring.

Check for a short circuit.

If the circuit breaker won't reset and trips immediately, the problem might be a short circuit. A short circuit occurs when a hot wire carrying a current touches a neutral wire. In this case, the flipped breaker is a safety mechanism and is evidence of your circuit breaker working properly.

Reset the main breaker by turning the switch off and on two times. Leave the switch in the on position. Return to the breaker panel inside your home and turn each breaker back to the on position, one by one. In many cases, power is now restored.
