What is a Level 2 swimming teacher? ›

You will need to gain the STA Level 2 Award in Teaching Swimming qualification first to develop the vocational skills and technical knowledge of a swimming teacher. This will allow you to independently teach your very own class of 12 participants from non-swimmers up to improvers (children and adults).

Level 2: Beginning+ (Averages ages 2.5 years to 6 years)

Prerequisite: Child should be able to fully submerge their face in the water, eyes and everything.

Level 3 Swim Coordinator Course

This brand new qualification from SEQ, and delivered through Swim Wales is designed for those learners, who wish to undertake the role (or already do so) of swim coordinator and coordinate the safe delivery of high quality swimming programmes.

This qualification will provide you with the essential knowledge and skills needed to assist a qualified Swimming Teacher in delivering high quality inclusive swimming lessons in a range of settings, for example at a leisure centre, swim school or club learn to swim programme.

Each of the seven stages of the Swim England Learn to Swim Framework has a clear set of targets for the pupil to meet so they can get to the next stage.

Learn to Swim Stage 2 Outcomes
