If you accidentally delete content from your Canvas course, you can bring back some deleted items by using the Restore Deleted Items option. Additionally, you are able to revert changes made on Pages using the Version History option. Both options are described below.
Restoring Deleted Items
The Restore Deleted Items option is located in your Course Settings.
Click Restore next to the item you wish to bring restore.
Note: There are limitations to this function; not all deleted items can be brought back. Keep in mind that some items may lose their associated data when they were deleted. You should make sure you confirm the results of any restores you perform.
Restoring a Previous Version of a Page
When you edit course pages, you can view the page history and see the date, time, and author of any changes made to the page. Page editors can also roll back the page content to a previous version of the page.
Navigate to the Page you wish to revert changes on.
On the page, select the … button [1] and then click on View Page History [2].
A Revision History sidebar will open up. Select the version you’d like to restore [1], and then click Restore this revision [2].
Go to the Home page of the course. Type /undelete In the address bar at the end of the course URL. Hit Enter/Return. The page that appears will contain a list of recently deleted items with restore buttons next to them.

Click the Designs, Images, or Videos tab, depending on what you want to restore or delete from Trash. Hover your cursor over the design or file you want to restore or delete from Trash. Click the More icon on the thumbnail. To restore, click Restore.
Answer choices are automatically saved as you move from one question to the next. You can change any of your answer choices before submitting the exam.
Canvas does not have a dedicated Recycle bin to show you the deleted items. However, Canvas, deleted pages, files, and announcements can be seen and/or recovered by typing "/undelete" after your course URL. Instructions: Navigate to your course and add the "/undelete" phrase to the end of the URL in the address bar.
Deleting an assignment deletes all student submissions. Students can still access their assignments from their user files if they were submitted as file uploads.
Simply click CTRL-Z while in the Rich Content Editor and it will undo the last action you completed. You can also do this by clicking on ALT-F9, then clicking on the Edit drop-down list, and selecting "Undo".
If you delete a discussion reply with other course user replies attached, Canvas shows a Deleted by notification. The notification includes your name. This entry cannot be removed. Note: Course instructors can see that you deleted your replies in the discussion.
From within the relevant Canvas course, find the course ID in your browser's URL bar. The course ID is the seven-digit number following https://iu.instructure.com/courses/ . Press Enter . Click Restore next to the appropriate item(s).
Once you have the course ID, you can restore the original course using Restore Course Tab in the Admin Tools. After you've restored the original course, you will need to re-add the enrollments. To do this, you will cross-list the section(s) with the enrollments back to the original course.
Tap Trash. Tap the Designs, Images, or Videos tab, depending on what you want to restore or delete from Trash. Tap the More icon on the thumbnail. To restore, tap Restore.
