Rory McIlroy is the richest fully active player on the professional tour’s if you don’t consider Tiger Woods to be fully active.

An estimated net worth of $170million (as of July 2023) puts him sixth on golf’s all-time richest list, and every one of the men ahead of him either owns golf course architecture companies or enjoys the benefits of silly money deals from LIV golf.

McIlroy finished fourth on the PGA Tour money list in 2023 claiming $13,921,008. He also topped the PGA Tour’s PIP Rankings earning a massive $15 million bonus.

The Northern Irishman is the leader of the DP World Tour all-time money list with a total of €50,662,455 won as of the end of 2023.

McIlroy made it back-to-back victories in the blue riband events of the DP World Tour when he backed up his Hero Dubai Desert Classic win in January 2023 with a triumph at the Scottish Open in July.

The Ulsterman has taken up residence in the so-called ‘Professional Golf Capital of the World’, Jupiter, Florida. He is a member of the Bear’s Club, which was inaugurated as Jack Nicklaus’ pet project to bring world-class golf to South Florida.

His total career earnings on the course swelled by $20,321,008 to a total of $140,135,058 across 2023.

McIlroy’s main sponsors are Nike, Omega and TaylorMade. Nike is understood to be the leading contributor towards his sizeable endorsem*nt earnings.

Between May 2022 and May 2023, McIlroy reportedly earned $40 million from sponsorships. Estimates of his Nike payments vary between $10 million and $20 million.

“Nike is the leading sports brand in the world and naturally a partner I want to align with. Being one of their stable of athletes is a dream come true and gives me an edge in one of the most competitive fields of sport on the planet,” he said of working with the American sportswear giants.

McIlroy signed a 10-year and $200 million contract extension with Nike for apparel in 2017 when the company gave up on the golf equipment market. That switch opened the door for him to sign a similar 10-year and $100 million equipment contract with TaylorMade to use clubs, balls and bag.

“My future rests firmly in my hands — that’s why I choose TaylorMade. I’ve been around the game long enough and I’ve seen everything, but I have never been as excited about equipment as I am right now,” McIlroy said, and he has made the most of cutting-edge clubs from one of the market leaders.

Taylormade dominate McIlroy’s bag, but he has the one holdout as he still uses the Titleist-made Scotty Cameron T-5.5 Proto putter.

McIlory says of his Omega timepieces: “When you become successful, time becomes your most precious resource. So I wear a timepiece that measures every second perfectly so I can spend my time wisely. And it helps that it looks amazing, too.”

He also counts NBC’s Golf Pass and Healthcare company Optus as his official partners, alongside Omega, Nike and Taylormade.
