"It’s going to be more rain, and (the forecast)doesn’t really change," said Paul Close, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Ruskin. "It looks the same as today and yesterday, so therecould be another 3 to 5 inches of rain in some spots."

Meteorologists are giving the Naples area an at least a 70 percent chance of rain between now and Monday.

Flooding was reported in Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, parts of Fort Myers and San Carlos Park on Saturday.

Submerged cars were found in parts of Cape Coral.

Former Bonita Springs mayor Ben Nelson lives along Leitner Creek in Bonita and said the creek is higher than he's seen in more than a decade.

"I’ve been here for 35 years and it’s as high as I’ve ever seen it," Nelson said. "If it rains like this for another day or two, I don’t know, it’s going to get pretty wild."

Nelson said flooding is part of life in Southwest Florida.

"Some people expect there will be water in the ditches, but I don’t care where you live in Southwest Florida, you’re going to get a lot of water standing in your yard at some point,"Nelson said.

Close said the disturbance moved from Bahamas to west Florida and stalled out. Last week, most weather forecasting outlets were expecting the storm to stay in the Atlantic Ocean.

"It was in the Bahamas and drifted west and has basically stalled out," Close said. "It’s meandering over Florida right now and there’s no good push to get it out of Florida right now."
