With Scottie Scheffler leading heading into the fourth round of the Memorial Tournament, many people will don a yellow ribbon to take part in the PGA Tour and Children's Miracle Network campaign to raise $100 million for CMN hospitals including Nationwide Children's Hospital over the next five years to fund pediatric care for millions of children.

Why yellow ribbons at the 2024 Memorial Tournament?

The "Play Yellow" idea is inspired by Memorial Tournament founder Jack Nicklaus, who wore yellow shirts in the final round of tournaments, including the 1986 Masters he won.

According to the tournament website, he wore yellow to honor Craig Smith, the son of a close friend that fought bone cancer and died at 13 in 1971.

How Memorial Tournament players, attendees are raising money

The "Play Yellow" campaign invitesMemorial Tournament fans and players to help raise money for the CMN hospitals in a few ways:

  • Wear yellowfor Sunday's final round.
  • Purchase special AHEAD brand or Nicklaus merchandise in the golf shop.
  • Donate at concession stands or within the golf shop.

All donations made during the Memorial will be distributed and assigned to multiple initiatives within Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Rickie Fowler named "Play Yellow" ambassador

Rickie Fowler was named as Jack and Barbara Nicklaus' "Play Yellow" ambassador for the 2024 Memorial Tournament.

"I'm officially excited to be a part of the family," Fowler said. "Something I've always enjoyed is being able to help you guys out with all the causes that you're involved with, with Children's Miracle Network and being able to give back to kids and the youth."
