Fitness & Recruitment... Can they work together?🏋️♂️💼 As some of you may know, I am currently preparing to enter my first bodybuilding competition of the year, and I thought I'd share some transferable skills into the world of recruitment. Bodybuilding success is not just about lifting weights; it's about discipline, strategy, and perseverance - these same principles apply to the world of recruitment.🕙 Goal Setting: Bodybuilders set specific, measurable goals to track their progress. Similarly, recruiters set targets for candidate placements, utilising metrics to measure success.🏃♀️ Consistency: Building your physique and finding top talent both require consistent effort over time. Just as muscles grow with regular workouts, a strong talent pool is created through ongoing sourcing and networking.🤸♀️ Adaptability: Bodybuilders adjust their training routines to overcome plateaus and challenges. Likewise, recruiters must adapt to market trends and candidate preferences.🙏 Building Relationships: Bodybuilders often form alliances and support networks within the fitness community. In recruitment, nurturing relationships with candidates, clients, and colleagues is crucial for long-term success.🤔 Continuous Learning: Successful bodybuilders continually educate themselves on training techniques, nutrition, and anatomy. Similarly, recruiters stay updated on industry trends, hiring strategy, and best practices to remain effective in their roles.💪 Resilience: Both bodybuilding and recruitment come with setbacks and rejections. Building resilience is key to bouncing back stronger and staying motivated despite challenges.🔎 Attention to Detail: Bodybuilders meticulously track their diet, workouts, and progress. Similarly, recruiters pay attention to detail in CV screening, candidate interviews, and offer negotiations to ensure the right fit for both parties.🎉 Celebrating Wins: Whether it's hitting a new personal record in the gym or making a successful placement, celebrating wins boosts morale and motivation - we all love cheering for each other in the office!Ultimately, the journey of bodybuilding and recruitment is about personal and professional growth, overcoming obstacles, and achieving goals. By embracing the principles that drive success in both arenas, we can elevate our performance and improve in every aspect! Also, a shameless plug to my wonderful partner Alex Cooper, who runs his own photography business - in case you wanted to know. 😍 #Recruitment #Bodybuilding #CareerGrowth

I’m a huge fan of using resistance bands + weights 💪 But this post isn’t about fitness! Its about WHY you should hire someone who ❤️ to exercise for that open position you’ve been hiring for! 🤔I’ve been exercising and lifting weights for almost 9 years, get this:I see 4 similiarities and reasons! Here goes: 1. Setting and Pursuing Goals:Goal-setting is fundamental AND instrumental with your career and exercise. ➡️Someone who loves to exercise is most likely great at hitting their goals.2. Continuous Learning:You’ll need to constantly learn, upskill and adapt in your professional and fitness goals.3. Balancing Priorities:You can’t work all day, nor can you sit in the gym all day as well. Rest is key 🔑That person you are considering to hire probably has their priorities straight.4. Positive mindsetThat candidate will most likely be a positive thinker. Why?Because they’ll face setbacks and frustrations in the gym but with a positive mindset they’ve can get over it and grow! Well, those are all that I could think of! Any other gym rats here? #health #exercise #workingout #business #career

I've let my gym membership slide the last two weeks…To be honest with you it’s been a bit of a whirlwind. We've celebrated heaps (I'll report on this later), we moved house and the interiors team is back to two designers/ recruiters again! Yay! Anywho, my gym membership and some of my habits have slipped over these last two weeks. What are your tips on moving through a transitional time and what habits have you found helpful for your career and work? These are some points I'll be focusing on this week:✨Put it in the calendar and do it! No-brainer, right?✨If it's less than a minute, do it!✨Make sure there's a to-do list. Not everything can be done all at once! I have tried.✨Plan out my day the day before!✨Don't be afraid of help - thanks Rose for your support and my good friend Lil’s (aka moonlight closet organization expert who's made sure I can find something to wear this week)✨Buddy up and keep yourself accountable! Emma looking at you! ✨ Perfection is the enemy of good! It's a work in progress! How are you going? What has helped you in the past? Do you have tips for me?

Reflecting on the joys of being a trainer 🏋️♂️💪:1) My clients are simply the best! It's not about "dealing" with them, but about helping and supporting them on their fitness journey. And, let's be honest, in this line of work, I'm the one who's always right, not the customer! 😂2) Making a real impact in someone's life is incredibly rewarding. As a trainer, I'm often among the top people my clients spend time with. While work, college, and family are priorities, I can also be right up there! I cherish the time I spend with them and the positive influence I can have.3) Building lasting relationships with clients is a true blessing. After 17 years in this field, I still maintain strong connections with people I trained when I first started. Few professions offer the chance to form such enduring bonds.4) Fitness isn't something you can buy; it's earned through hard work. Witnessing clients improve, achieve their goals, and set personal bests brings genuine happiness and success into their lives, and that's incredibly fulfilling.5) And, of course, the perks of wearing joggers and activewear every day! I'm the most comfortable and content person in my job. Living the dream in comfy attire! 😄💃 #TrainerLife #FitnessJourney #MakingADifference

I work out every day.I run 3 days a weekI lift weights 3 days a weekI road bike 2 days a weekI walk the dog and/or hike with the dog at least 25 minutes in the hills every day.Although I am not the best at math, (I am a qualitative researcher after all), I know that this doesn't add up to 7 days … That’s because most days I do two or three things and try to stick to this scheduleBut despite all of this, I know I will never do the most or be the best because in Northern California there are always people who do more. You run a marathon, someone else does an ultra marathonYou bench X pounds, someone else lifts (way) more You bike a century ride, someone else does a super century. But I’m ok with that. I am happy to just be in the game. After all, working out is my ‘me’ time. It’s my Zen time. It’s my fun leisure time. And in fitness, while I am competitive, I don’t have the drive or inclination to be the best.Work is different. I know that in business you have to be more than in the game, you have to have the drive to be the best at what you do. So if you are doing work with Gen Z and need qualitative help and Gen Z expertise, I can say with confidence: I am your guy. Reach out and let’s talk Gen Z.What do you do that you’re ok with never being best at?#genz #qualitativeresearch #workingout #skills

A fun little story about me . . . about a month ago I started on a new journey to try something BRAND NEW - 𝘾𝙍𝙊𝙎𝙎𝙁𝙄𝙏!My close friends and family know that years ago I was a "fitness junky/gym rat" which led to working as a Certified Personal Trainer, and followed by some work fitness modeling. My obsession started as a teenager and it turned into a great job for a College Student. While still in University, I started a career in Logistics/Transportation as an Outside Sales Rep, and briefly maintained my fit lifestyle. As a full-time employee with a very large Transportation Company, and still a full-time college student, I still found the time/energy to get in a workout! Fast forward over a decade, and fitness is still a vital part of my life and pursuit of general happiness. With that being said, my standard workouts were becoming complacent - finding that I wasn't pushing myself, which staggered towards a lack of motivation and/or excitement to get to the gym. I decided it was time to 𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝙉𝙀𝙒. I found a local "box" (as they call it in the Crossfit community) and immediately felt accepted one day one in this new fitness frontier. After lifting weights for the past 20 years, I came into this new experience with a foundation (at the very least). Quickly realizing that I would be learning everything BRAND NEW. The pic is me trying to smile while learning a new way to do a deadlift . . . and no my hair isn't really purple 😜.Here are just a few quick things this most recent life change has taught me:1. TRY SOMETHING NEW - You never know until you try!2. Challenge Yourself - You'd be surprised what you're capable of!3. DON'T QUIT - Anything that's worth it is hard - keep pushing!Just thought to share . . . maybe to inspire my own motivation to keep going? Either way, I'm only 1 month in, but this 𝗡𝗘𝗪 life choice has given me ability to look inward as we launch into 2024!#crossfit #keepgoing #itshard #Lifeishard #yougotthis #stronggirl #weights #entreprenuer #recruiter #liveyourbestlife

And I’m not even joking! If you tell me you lift weights, I already know a bunch of important things about you:- you sleep better;- you are confident;- you are mentally stronger;- you take care of your fitness;- you are commited to progress;- you have got “can do” attitude;- you are more productive during the day; - you have better stress management skills;- you have got improved cognitive functions;- you are disciplined and dedicated to your goals;- you are resilient and can handle challenges effectively;- you have got higher energy level and are less likely to experience fatigue or burnout…So, yes, HRs, we lift some heavy iron and put it back (and we repeat this 8-12 times), and this is our biggest flex! After all, as they say, strong body, strong mind, strong career! P.s. hiring someone who lifts weights can actually be a very smart strategy - they might as well lift the whole team to new heights!P.p.s.This is the sign you have been waiting for. Go get yourself into weightlifting🏋️♂️
