Matriarch/The Watcher. As the final boss in The Evil Within 2, Matriarch is the scariest monster the game has to offer. Not only is she a frightening foe in her own right, but she is also responsible for dispatching the aforementioned Effigy, as well as The Watcher.

All of Anima's encounters are optional, and she will not manifest in Union until the player has encountered her at least once. It is possible to skip one of the encounters and trigger another elsewhere.

OBJECTIVE: SAVE THE WOMAN

Fire a Flash Bolt at it to blind him and he'll drop the woman. Go in for the Sneak Kill. With the woman saved and freed, she runs and hides inside another small shack further up from the bonfire, so follow her and eventually she will disappear, leaving some Green Gel behind for you.

Clearing the game on Classic difficulty and starting a New Game+ from that save unlocks the option for having Infinite Ammo for any of Sebastian's weapons. This disables reloading and the ammo counter entirely, allowing for unlimited use of any weapon.

Her name is Anima, and her incessant humming and singing are sure to strike fear in your heart after your first encounter. Anima looks similar to an onryo, a vengeful spirit from Japanese folklore that seeks justice for the wrongs it received while alive.

You don't need to have played the first game to play the second. Some elements won't make much sense at first—like how our hero Sebastian Castellanos psychically travels to a supernatural mental hospital to get upgrades—but any confusion becomes easy to ignore once you uncover the setup.
