Two Really Nice Corvairs on Bend, OR Craigslist

So Mangler send me a P/M with this link because of my lambo door post in Seth's GWFBT&SM thread.

Turns out to be a really nice lady selling the cars her passed on husband spent 30+ years loving.

The lambo doors are not available in any form and are only a one off project by her late husband.

These are both really well thought out and engineered cars that are clearly worth the asking price.

'Sorry, I don't know the cars, they're actually in Sisters, OR

I saw the convertible a few years ago at a Corsa Oregon event in Sisters - I remember being interested in the Lambo doors just from an engineering perspective, but he arrived after dark and it was too dark to see any details. At the time I was wondering, "Why would anyone do that?" Still wondering.

Hi

Just thought I would post an explanation re WHY my late husband would modify his 65 Corsa Corvair with Lambo doors and the other 62 Corvair with a shoehorned V6 in the front and air suspension to raise and lower it. My amazing late husband was an Engineer and a real live Inventor who held several Patents. Randy was also into a challenge and a life long corvair fan. He adored these vehicles and always wanted to make them better and better. He DID make them super UNIQUE. You won't find another Corvair like these. I want them both to go to a good home and be adored like he meant for them to be. They are sitting here, not being driven and I hope some smart Corvair fan sees them and snaps them up!

Happy driving!

Regards,

Marlene the Noodlequeen (in Sisters, OR)

The Vert does look nice. But I would have some concerns about the condition of an engine without all the upper tin. I would think the heat from the exhaust might make it run hotter than it should.

(1) Marie's 1962 Convertible and our 1966 Ultravan #248 (aka Itchy Feet - Long Restoration)
(2) Our 1963 Rampside (Sold 2014) and 1967 Ultravan #256 at Upper Canada Valley car show in 2009.
(UV256 aak Itchy Feet II - corvair power plant came out 2012 - plans with donor for a GM 3.8L FWD conversion, as a gas pusher, in the back of UV256)
(3 & 4) Are some of our 11 Corvair parts cars - to help keep our stuff on the road - hopefully as long as we live. ;-)
(5) Is one of our Wayne 100 boats (Corvair powered) SOLD - August 2018
(6) Nov 14, 2012 Ultravans #362 and #512 arrived. We are getting closer to our goal of having an Ultravan museum.
We now own; UV248, UV256, UV362, UV512, and UV520 will hopefully be here July 2013.
(7) I saved Ultravan #231 from the scarp yard this year. It arrived May 9, 2013 and I plan to flip this one with a rear engine V6.
Anything is for sale at the right price.

The 62 with the V6 up front has an excellent heater AND air conditioner. Not often a Corvair owner claims to have great heating! I don't recall any engine overheating issues and we drove it down to SoCal from Sisters many times!

Yes I know I sound like a typical widow gushing about my late husband's genius. But Randy actually WAS a genius. The convertible with the lambo doors is a pretty amazing engineering feat. I don't think Chevy motors could have done a slicker job. They move like silk!

Thanks for your interest!

Yes, the red vair is pretty slick. Runs great and sure turns heads when we raised or lowered it.At one of the car shows it was in, a very "knowlegable" guy stopped by and exclaimed how "few" of these Chevy actually made with a shoehorned V6 up front. We got a good laugh out of that one!

Thanks!

Hi there,

The vert has never had an issue with overheating. Now our mid engine Vair with the 327 in the back seat sure did (for a time). But my husband added an "extra" fan system that he could turn on when needed which completely solved that problem. The mid engine Corvair (a Monza) dubbed the "Tangerine Dream" has gone to his daughter in Joshua Tree after his passing. But the Corsa Cobalt Convertible's Lambo doors are truly slick and smooth. A marvel of engineering and flawlessly done!

Marlene in Sisters

2 beautiful cars! I really dig the LM convertible. Close to the color of my 68 coupe back in the day. If Publisher's clearinghouse comes to my door, I'm all in on the vert. Not likely of course.

Marlene the Noodlequeen is still trying to sell these two cars.

I personally think the early front engine V6 with A/C is bad ass.

You all know I diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig those lambo doors on the late.
