    FAQs

How much should you tip a massage therapist for 60 minutes? ›

In general, the 20% rule applies to tipping your massage therapist. So, if you're wondering how much to tip for a $100 massage, you'd want to tip $20. If you're considering how much to tip for a 60-minute massage (that costs $100) – you'd still tip $20. However, generosity is generally very appreciated.

Is it rude not to tip a massage therapist? ›

Most massage therapists who are business owners generally charge enough for their services so clients don't need to worry about a tip. A monetary tip is appreciated, but never required.

How much do I tip on a 90 dollar massage? ›

Yes, you should tip at least 20% based on the regular cost of the service, even if you're using a coupon or gift certificate, says Sokolosky. So if a massage normally costs $100, tip $20 even if you have a coupon that discounts the massage to $90 or a gift card that covers the full cost.

How much do you tip for a 30 minute massage? ›

Since tips are standard protocol for massage therapists, you should assume a 20 percent tip in any massage or spa treatment situation (unless a self-employed therapist specifically tells you their rate is all-inclusive).

Is $20 a good tip for an hour massage? ›

For example, if your massage costs $100, you'd tip $15 to $20. This range is a good starting point and is commonly accepted across different settings: at-home or mobile therapists, franchise spas or clinics, or an individual massage therapist. If you're unsure, it's always a safe bet to stick within this range.

Is a 60 minute massage worth it? ›

In general, while a 60 minute session provides some relaxation and targeted muscle work, it's sometimes a less thorough massage if you are looking to address the whole body including the hands, feet, and scalp.

How much clothing do I take off for a massage? ›

Remember, it's your choice, so let your therapist know what you are comfortable with. Many customers opt to remove just the top layer as a nice balance between allowing skin access while maintaining a degree of modesty. If being partially dressed feels comfortable to you, then this is the best option.

Is a $10 tip enough for massage? ›

I usually tip 5-$10 regardless of the price. Depending on if the massage was above and beyond.

How often should you get a massage? ›

It is recommended to be getting massaged at least once every three weeks (or every two) to help aid in healthy tissue repair and reduce pain felt from the intensive workouts that the body is going through. Massage will also help with the accumulation of work-related stress.

Why is massage so expensive? ›

The primary cost of a massage service lies in the licensed massage therapist's time and expertise, as they have undergone extensive training and certification in accredited massage schools to provide you with professional and effective treatment.

    Is $5 a good tip for a pedicure? ›

For instance, how much do you tip for a $50 pedicure? Depending on your satisfaction, $7.50 is a standard tip, $10 is a good tip, and if your nail tech really went the extra mile, $13 is a great tip.

    What is massage etiquette? ›

You must cover all open skin (cuts, warts, etc) with a bandaid and bring to the therapists attention prior to your massage. Remove all make-up from face before climbing on to the massage table. Replacing stained linens can be very costly. Remove all jewelry prior to your massage.

How much do you tip for a 60 minute massage at massage Envy? ›

You should tip what you feel is appropriate. 20% of the cost is the “norm", but as a Massage Envy therapist, I'm happy when I get $20 for a one hour, or $35 for a 90 minute. What happens if you don't tip a massage therapist? We won't like you and we won't go out of our way for you.

What is a good tip for a $60 massage? ›

Generally $15 or $20 is a good tip on an hour massage regardless of the cost of the massage. You don't tip the manager of the spa unless they are giving you a massage. Hope this helps.

    Is $25 a good tip for a massage? ›

For instance, if your Swedish or deep tissue massage session costs $125 before gratuity, an appropriate tip would be $25 in cash; most therapists prefer receiving their tips this way. We can also accept tips with the payment processing app we use to close out your appointment.

Is 15% tip for a massage good? ›

A good rule of thumb for tipping in the massage industry is between 15% and 20% of the total service cost, which is the standard practice in the broader service industry. This range is widely accepted as a standard gesture of appreciation for satisfactory to excellent service, and is a perfectly acceptable tip.
