When I first walked the halls, I will admit it was a bit overwelming with all of the students there, but every teacher, and every admin, was welcoming. I had never been more excited to go to school until I walked the halls of this fairly new school. I have connected with every teacher I have had, and I have made plenty of friends along the way. I give thanks to the amazing falculaty and their constant envolvment with the school. Our sports teams are even more exciting. Cary High SchoolWake County Schools, NC·9-12·Rating 3.88 out of 5 377 reviewsSenior: At Cary High, I was more of a quiet kid but that didn't stop the students around me and teachers from treating me with kindness in every class I've had. It's a diverse school that is accepting, with many interesting and fun clubs like Pipe Cleaner Club and Ping Pong Club! I grew close with my group of friends through our high school experience, laughing and struggling through hard classes and a few difficult teachers. The band at Cary High is amazing, they play at football games and those experiences are something I will never forget. The biggest thing that affected me negatively was doubt. I felt like I wasn't being taught enough or preparing myself enough for after high school. Not joining enough clubs, not taking hard enough classes, and not learning about what it means to be an adult. But I've realized through the support of those around me that we are all in it together and it's going to be ok. If anything could change I wish that was more voiced to me during my time at Cary.... 11. Holly Springs High SchoolWake County Schools, NC·9-12·Rating 3.75 out of 5 553 reviewsAlum: I loved most of my teachers, as they were very knowledgeable and cared for their students. I was privileged enough to get the opportunity to take the AP Capstone program, which many schools do not have. HSHS also had many APs and dual enrollment opportunities, so I felt that I could challenge myself with difficult courses throughout the 4 years of high school. The clubs were plentiful, and I felt that everyone could find one where they fit in, and if not, they could create their own. The sports teams were competitive and fun to support and go watch games. The building itself could use a renovation, as we still have classes in the 1-year temporary trailers after being open since 2006 (18 years). The student population is not very diverse, but the town of Holly Springs itself is predominantly white, so this fact is not entirely surprising. I felt that the school itself prepared me well for college, but I know some other students do not feel the same way. Overall, I really enjoyed HSHS.... 16. Green Level High SchoolWake County Schools, NC·9-12·Rating 4.36 out of 5 58 reviewsAlum: When I joined Green Level High School I was an incoming sophom*ore who had just moved from India. I was welcomed in by the students and faculty with warm and open hands. Throughout the years I was there, a vast network of clubs and activities were set up. My class was the first graduating class from Green Level so there were things that the staff learned from us to improve the experience of other incoming students. I was on the varsity tennis and basketball team through my years there for which I had feedback that hopefully reflected in change. Our basketball team went through coach changes- which do happen- but you never expect it to happen at the end of the first year of the school's operation. My tennis team's coach was the parent of one of the athletes on the team and I think that caused an imbalance on the team when a player that was better than their child got a spot on the team. It may take a while because finding the teachers who work with your learning style and interests and finding your niche in clubs and friend groups will always take time but once you have found them it makes Jordan much more enjoyable. The administration is detached from a large part of the student body making absurd decisions and never informing anyone why (including parents). 27. Durham School of the ArtsDurham Public Schools, NC·6-12·Rating 3.92 out of 5 283 reviewsSenior: I’ve been at DSA since the sixth grade. DSA held middle and high school. My best experiences at DSA were having different types of art classes every year. These included theatre class, visual arts, photography, band, orchestra, chorus and more. We had two pep rallies every year and the whole school would gather at the main gym and different art courses would showcase their talents. Such as the K-pop club, dance class, the basketball team, etc. Winter showcases were the best too! My orchestra class would play a piece in front of all high schoolers (middle schoolers had their own winter showcase). DSA was a school of diversity and held a variety of arts.
