Does faction standing matter in NMS? ›

Faction standing currently has the following effects: Availability of certain blueprints to purchase. Faction specific dialogue options. Possibility to start missions, which require a minimum faction standing.

They can be purchased, mined from raw elements on the ground of planets (either by hand or with an Autonomous Mining Unit), mined from asteroids in space, harvested from plants, collected from the air (with an Atmosphere Harvester or Oxygen Harvester), given to you as gifts from animals you befriend, found in crates ...

Notes on Standing:

- You can do so by giving gifts to NPCs and by completing the missions you already have access to. Most missions reward +1 to standing, though some higher ranking missions reward +2. Missions from the guild envoy award +5 to standing. - You lose 1 standing if you cancel a delivery mission.

Storage Containers allow a player to store resources and products above and beyond what is available in a starship or exosuit inventory. A maximum of ten containers (labelled 0 through 9, although they can be renamed) may be built, with each container holding fifty stacks.

Food products can be used for several purposes: Can act as bait for fauna. Can be consumed for various Exosuit bonuses. Can be presented to Iteration: Cronus in the Space Anomaly for Nanite rewards.

Most goods are influenced by the economy of a system (for example, minerals are cheaper in Mining economies and more expensive in Industrial economies). Study the details of Trade Goods to learn where to sell them for the most profit.
