Amazing game for 12+

I love this game it’s one of the best games on ps4 or ps3 for sure I played it with my 12 year old son and he loved it the violence and swearing is ok for a 12 year old and if your kid has ever seen a horror movie like it he should be able to deel with everything no problem. The story is amazing and the last sentence cut into me like butter.

First things first I have played this game before and I let my son play it when he was 10 it is definitely not for kids of that age group. It has some horror themes but its not nightmare level scary for kids 13 and up. The language is not worse than they have heard. The sex refrence is mild just a male p*rn magazine that Ellie one of the characters comment on. The violence is not terrible its definitely not like ripping out spines ore tearing things limb from limb the worst thing is sometimes you take the weapons like a bat out of a person but thats the worst. I still love the game and think the story is good.

Its not that bad

The game is not that bad kids hear langauge in school and the sex refrence is just a sex magazine and you don't see anything the violence is a little worse than the Uncharted games like you can snap peoples necks in this game and Uncharted and if there were melee weapons in that game you would use those but Uncharted focuses more on gun play more than hand to hand combat. Both games were made by the same company so thats why they are being compared.

TLOU 1 Review

I have recently turned twenty-nine and as the series has come out for the tenth anniversary, I thought I might review the game. First of all, at the beginning, a mutated cannibalistic zombie-like creature smashes the door down and is massacred by Joel (voiced by Troy Baker). This leads to his brother,Tommy, and his daughter, Sarah, following him through the city and you do see quite a lot of violence. This technically has educational value as it loosely teaches players about Mycology and Ophiocordyceps Unilateralis.

14+ but 11+ if you think your child is mature enough

14 at the most there is a lot of gore but it is either facing away from the camera or unnoticeable because you are to busy fighting zombies or bandits basically no sexual content other than a p*rn magazine but the p*rn isnt shown although ellie does say a few inappropriate things and ellie kisses a girl in the left behind dlc it is a bit depressing and can be somewhat scary and it is hard and there is suicide (i personally am not worried about the swearing i think it is okay for over the age of ten) but it is a pretty good game with pretty good story telling and should be ok for a 14 year old and if they are mature maybe 11 and up but i would watch some gameplay to be sure also joel is mainly a good person

Gripping suspense and action…wonderful story

Very good story and lots of gripping action. It really immerses you into the story and gameplay. Hence why I think kids 13-16 that are mature will enjoy the game and the story and not be bothered with the fake mutant things or the violence encountered to survive (which makes sense). I don’t think 18+ is a good rating as the good messages of protecting those that can’t, not backing down to evil people, or just basic survival tactics when faced with extreme situations are all things to be encouraged….especially in the sea of other games not offering anything as substantial.@Commonsensemedia - Strongly suggest you modify the overall rating as it is outdated and misrepresent this game/gaming experience. Sure there is some swear words but it is 100x tamer than my experience sitting in the bleachers at a Friday night middle school basketball game…so yeah…adjust the rating.

Good story line but violent

It’s an awesome game and a great story but there’s a lot of violence and swearing. One of the cutscenes there’s a 14 year old girl that violently hits someone which a axe (only showing her face though and mostly off camera) but blood when killed with a firearm. Lots of f**k and s**t. No sex/nudity but the girl finds a magazine with a man in underwear and says things like “ how do you walk with that thing” and “why are these page’s stuck together “ (doesn’t show the pages in the magazine)But they only kill when necessary. They don’t help a lot of people but find characters along the way they pertect. they don’t try to harm unless for there safety. All and all. The Last Of Us (part 1) is good for teens 13+

Easily good for a 14 year old, and most 13 year olds should be fine.
