DUBLIN, Ohio (WCMH) — Scottie Scheffler held on to capture his first ever Memorial Tournament title, finishing with a final round 74 and ending up with 8-under overall for the week.
This is the 11th career victory on the PGA Tour for the world’s top golfer and his fifth this season. Collin Morikawa finished second and Canadian Adam Hadwin placed third. Scheffler joins Tiger Woods as the only golfers to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational, the Players Championship, the Masters and the Memorial Tournament in the same year.
“I didn’t have my best stuff, but man, I felt like I hit a lot of good shots that were just barely off. If I holed a few more putts, it probably would have been a really good round,” Scheffler said. “But outside of that, you know, a few bounces my way — or a few bounces or breaks go my way, the day could have looked a little bit different, but I felt like I stepped up when I needed to there in the end.”
Scheffler’s first win at the Memorial comes after finishing third in his last two starts. He’s the first golfer since Tom Watson in 1980 to win five PGA Tour titles in the same calendar year before the start of the U.S. Open.

The Memorial marks Scottie Scheffler’s first win since becoming a dad. When he won the Masters earlier this year, Scottie’s wife, Meredith, was due to give birth. This afternoon, Scheffler got to celebrate this victory with his wife and newborn son.
6:03 p.m. Scottie wins the Memorial
It’s Scottie’s Sunday at the Memorial. Scottie Scheffler is your winner of the 2024 Memorial Tournament, his first of his career. The American wins by one stroke over Collin Morikawa with a par putt on the 18th hole.
5:53 p.m. Barbara Nicklaus selected as 2025 Memorial Honoree
The Captains Club has selected Barbara Nicklaus, known as “The First Lady of Golf”, as next year’s Memorial Honoree as the tournament celebrates its 50th edition.
“This honor is so incredibly special to me, and I can’t thank the Captains Club enough for thinking of me,” Barbara Nicklaus said. “When the Captains Club gathered for their annual meeting and our longtime friend Charlie Mechem called in to relay the news, I was overcome with emotion and, honestly, speechless.”
5:47 p.m. Heading to the 18th hole
It’s back to a one shot lead for Scottie Scheffler after he bogeyed the 17th hole. Collin Morikawa held for par and it sets up an interesting, if not thrilling, finish for the 2024 Memorial Tournament title.
Meanwhile Sepp Straka just landed the first birdie on 18 today, warming up the massive crowd that has gathered for the finish.
5:43 p.m. Scheffler closing in
A pivotal moment happened at 16 as Collin Morikawa ended up with a bogey there while Scottie Scheffler saved par. The 2024 Masters champion has a two-shot lead heading into the final two holes as he closes in on his first ever Memorial Tournament title following third place finishes in his last two starts.
4:56 p.m. Two way battle for the lead
Heading to the 14th hole, Scottie Scheffler is just one stroke ahead of Collin Morikawa. Scheffler is at 9-under overall while Morikawa is at 8-under.
Meanwhile, Adam Hadwin and Sepp Straka are approaching the green at 15. If the Canadian wishes to make one last charge for the lead, it would be at this hole, where many have found success this weekend. Xander Schauffele just left here after making his eagle putt.
3:51 p.m. Leaders make the turn
Halfway through the final round, Scottie Scheffler remains in front with a two stroke lead despite two birdies on the front nine. Adam Hadwin and Collin Morikawa are tied for second at 7-under. After going bogey free on Saturday, Morikawa has two bogeys against three birdies, including a three-shot on the par 4 ninth hole.
Elsewhere on the course, Rory McIlroy has struggled on the back nine, with bogeys on four of his five holes he’s played so far, including a double bogey on 11. And defending champion Viktor Hovland has recovered from three bogeys in a row on the front nine with back to back birdies on 14 and 15. He’s tied for 13th at even par overall.
2:53 p.m. Scheffler’s lead down to one stroke
Through five holes, the leaderboard has tightened significantly as Scottie Scheffler is one-over so far in the round while Adam Hadwin is 2-under, putting the Canadian in sole possession of second place, just one stroke back of Scheffler.
Collin Morikawa had a birdie on the second hole but has since dropped back to even, trailing the leader by three strokes.
12:41 p.m. Rickie Fowler named Play Yellow ambassador
Rickie Fowler, along with Chase Johnson and Denny McCarthy, were named the newest Play Yellow ambassadors for the Play Yellow movement. The campaign has raised over $100 million for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals, including Nationwide Children’s Hospital, which directly benefits from donations made at the Memorial Tournament.
“For years I have had the privilege of seeing firsthand the incredible commitment Barbara and Jack have had towards children’s healthcare. They are the gold standard and it’s only natural for me to offer my support,” Fowler said. “As parents, Allison and I fully understand the love and support needed to ensure our kids are safe and healthy. Clear skies expected for final round and trophy presentation
Wind has been a factor the last couple of days at the Memorial, making an already challenging course even tougher.
“I think the winds might be up a little bit more tomorrow with the same wind we got yesterday, so it’s going to play tough,” Collin Morikawa said.
Windy conditions aside, the weather has been perfect for fans at this year’s Memorial and golfers and patrons should expect the same for the tournament’s final day. According to Storm Team 4 meteorologist Ben Gelber, skies will clear Sunday afternoon, with temperatures reaching the upper 70s under partly cloudy skies and a northwesterly breeze around a high-pressure system building down from Canada.
