Summary[ | ]

Storage Containers allow a player to store resources and products above and beyond what is available in a starship or exosuit inventory.

A maximum of ten containers (labelled 0 through 9, although they can be renamed) may be built, with each container holding fifty stacks. Each stack will hold 9999 units of a specific resource, or 20 of certain special items that normally holds 10 per stack like Vortex Cubes.

Game Description[ | ]

Spacious additional storage for inventory items.

Build[ | ]

Storage Container can be built using a blueprint and the following ingredients:

Slot Capacities[ | ]

Each type of Storage Container has 50 storage slots (10x5), and the slots generally have 2x capacity of "Cargo" Inventory slots and so are able to hold any one of the following stacks:

Additional information[ | ]

  • Storage Container 0's blueprint is the first blueprint uncovered by the Base Computer after the player reaches a certain point in the Artemis Path and begins the Base Computer Archives quest. The blueprints for storage containers 1-9 are given by the Overseer early on in the advanced base-building quest.
  • Storage containers are numbered from 0-9 to make them easier to identify. Each container can be colored and renamed to provide additional visual clues as to their contents.
  • Each number can only be used once per base. Instances of the same container share their contents with their associated number (1 - 1, 2 - 2, and so on).
  • Items can be moved from the exosuit's or starship's inventory to storage containers at any time.
  • Items may be retrieved from a storage container by either:
    • Physically interacting with a container. You must be facing the front of container (the part that looks like a Galactic Trade Terminal) in order to access the contents.
    • Pressing the "quick transfer" key bind when the cursor is hovering above an empty slot in the exosuit's inventory as long as the user is near any Base Computer.
  • When moving items to a storage container there is no way to direct them to a specific container when not near them. If a stack (or more) already exist in one of the containers (provided there is enough space for the new item) the item(s) will be stacked automatically in their appropriate storage container, otherwise a new stack is created in one of the containers, if there is room.
  • If the container loses power, the items inside are not lost, but cannot be retrieved by interacting with the container until the power is restored. However, they can still be retrieved from an unpowered container using an empty slot in the exosuit.
  • If all containers with a specific number are deleted (e.g. all 0 containers are deleted) - the items inside are also not lost, but cannot be retrieved even via an empty slot in the exosuit until at least one instance of the container is rebuilt in any base.
  • All containers of a specific number are linked and share inventories, including the freighter version.

Bugs[ | ]

  • Some bugs are reported in regard to acquiring Storage Container 0's blueprint. The player can resolve by deleting all the bases and constructing a new base to restart the Base Computer Archives quest.
  • Bugs have been reported, in some cases, that specific instances of a container can only exist once globally, while others work fine.
  • There seems to be a glitch where sometimes you cannot take things out of a certain container, instead showing the description of a technology in the Starship. (Clicking random spots on an item's icon will eventually allow the item to be removed from the storage container.)

FAQs

Can you build unlimited storage in Starfield? ›

Starfield also has some means for unlimited resource storage, but none are particularly convenient. In the basem*nt of the Lodge, you'll find a storage crate and a storage box near a bunch of crafting stations. Both of these chests have unlimited storage.

How much can the transfer container hold in Starfield? ›

Starfield. As stated they only work on outpost with a single resource as you can only access the 400 stored in the transfer container. When you have an outpost with 5 resources like me and many others it just does not work as it fills with a single one of the resources and is thus pointless.

Are storage containers connected to No Man's Sky? ›

Will Starfield really have 1,000 planets? ›

Can storage be unlimited? ›

Unlimited cloud storage is essentially a myth. Large companies (Google, and Microsoft) can offer unlimited storage at the start but will soon impose limits. How do you unseal a container? ›

Dip your container far enough into the hot water so that just the lid is submerged. You'll feel the pressure release when the seal is broken. It took me about two minutes of soaking the lid in the hot water. If your container is heavy, feel free to take breaks or switch hands.

How do I break into a container? ›

Can you go inside ships in no man's sky? ›

How to store all resources in Starfield? ›

Either the unlimited storage boxes at the lodge, or I just dump it all on the ground inside my ship. If you have Outposts there should be a Transfer Storage item you can create that freely changes contents with your cargo hold when you're nearby.
