Sugarcane can be found growing on Sand or Grass next to bodies of water. It spawns in groups of 2-4 and can be as high as 4 blocks.

Farming[]

Sugar cane cannot be grown on Farmland. Instead, it has to be placed on aGrass, Dirt, Sand,or Red Sand block that is adjacent to water. It can spawn on Gravel but can't be placed on it. It will not grow on a block that is not next to water.Sugarcane can grow up to 4 blocks tall, and can grow instantly whenBone Mealis used.

  • Contrary to popular belief, sugarcane does not grow faster on sand.
  • Sugarcane can be found growing naturally in most Biomes where water is available.
  • Sugarcane was also dropped by the Nether Reactor.
  • Sugarcane can also be placed underwater, creating an Airlock.
  • The color of the Sugar Cane depends on which biome the Player plants it.
    • For example, when Sugarcane is planted on a Swamp Biome, it will turn dark green, and when planted on an Extreme Hills or Plains Biome the color will be light green.
