With Chapter 7 revealing exactly what's stalking us through the woods, The Quarry's eighth chapter will begin our mission to put an end to this nightmare and get everyone home safe. The walkthrough below will give you all the tips and tricks needed to ensure we get through this section alive, as well as find all the clues, evidence and tarot cards.

The chapter will open on Ryan holding Laura at gunpoint. She'll convince him the only way to rid the gang of the curse and save them all is to find Chris Hackett, although this won't sit well with Hackett's favourite counsellor...

(Ryan and Laura) Discovering the Hackett Estate

Chapter 8 will open with Ryan holding Laura hostage after the reveal that she was bitten by Max. She'll continue asking where she can find Chris Hackett, which Ryan won't be too happy about considering his close bond with the cheerful camp leader.

Ryan will refuse to put down the gun despite interference from Dylan, who will tell Ryan to calm down. Ryan will accuse Laura of killing Kaylee. After she shoots down the accusation, we'll get two dialogue options:

ChoiceOutcome
CommandingRyan will tell Laura to shut up again
UncertainRyan will ask Kaitlyn for advice on what to do. She'll refuse to tell you how to handle the situation

The group will continue their attempt to calm Ryan down, reminding him that after everything they've seen, Laura likely has a point. He'll then be able to follow up on his line of questioning:

ChoiceOutcome
UnconvincedRyan will argue that he's not willing to kill Chris Hackett over a poem. Abi will defend Laura's trust in the poem, claiming it lines up with what the group has experienced
CuriousRyan will ask about the ghostly voice Laura heard when she was leaving the police station

Assuming Abi's alive, Laura will ask her if she can see her bracelet, noting that it's made of silver. Ryan will be suspicious of her interest, opening up two new dialogue options:

ChoiceOutcome
SuspiciousRyan will ask Laura what she's doing
AggressiveRyan will threaten to shoot Laura if she gets closer to Abi

Laura will stuff Abi's bracelet into a shotgun shell, telling her it's a final resort if she's attacked. The blast will kill a werewolf dead if it hits.

Following the interaction, Kaitlyn will tell Ryan to put the gun down, which he will, causing Laura to take it back. She'll then ask where Chris lives. Ryan can give one of two answers:

ChoiceOutcome
MeanRyan claims he'd never tell Laura
GuardedRyan will play dumb, asking Laura what makes her think he'd know

advertisem*nt

Kaitlyn will head to the window and point out a creepy estate not too far from the poolhouse. Ryan will get angry with her for showing Laura, opening up two dialogue options:

ChoiceOutcome
SarcasticRyan will ask Laura if she's ever considered not hunting down Chris Hackett and murdering him
CompassionateRyan will suggest that there's got to be another way to end the curse

Laura will begin getting frustrated with Ryan, causing Kaitlyn to calm them down. Laura will then claim she's going to the estate to finish this. Ryan will tell her that he's going too.

The group will be shocked, asking why Ryan plans to join her. Ryan will have two options on how to respond:

ChoiceOutcome
FriendlyRyan will tell Laura that he's coming to prove Chris' innocence
AggressiveRyan will tell Laura that he refuses to let a murderer like her go anywhere near Chris on her own

Laura will allow Ryan to join her in her hunt for Chris Hackett. He'll tell Dylan and Kaitlyn to go back to the lodge and get the van working.

He'll then leave the poolhouse with Laura, getting ready to enter the Hackett estate and finish things once and for all.

The Path to the Hackett Estate

Our perspective will then shift to Laura as she heads down the path to the Hackett Estate with Ryan. The two aren't talking, although Laura immediately begins to get suspicious.

advertisem*nt

She'll ask Ryan whether they're on the right path. He'll respond indecisively, telling her he's pretty sure they're heading the right way. She'll then get an option to grill him on the response:

ChoiceOutcome
SuspiciousLaura will tell Ryan that the path doesn't feel right, accusing him of purposefully leading her the wrong way
InquisitiveLaura will ask whether Ryan's ever been this way before. He'll admit he hasn't

The pair will continue walking, with Laura asking Ryan about Chris Hackett. He'll explain that Chris is a mentor to him and Laura will once again ask whether that loyalty is causing him to lead her the wrong way. She'll snap at Ryan and he'll ask her why she's being so difficult. We'll get two responses:

ChoiceOutcome
ProvokingLaura will turn the question back on Ryan, asking him why he's not helping her track Chris willingly
ReflectiveLaura will claim that no one really knows another person fully

The two will arrive at the house, with Ryan revealing that Chris' mother lives inside. Laura will ask how they're meant to reach the house.

Ryan will ponder the question for a few seconds, before musing that maybe they just shouldn't go there at all. Laura will be able to respond:

ChoiceOutcome
AngryLaura will ask Ryan which side he's truly on, hers or Chris'?
CompassionateLaura will appeal to Ryan, telling him that she knows Chris' Ryan's friend but she needs to get inside the house and find him

They'll continue to debate the idea of killing Chris before Ryan finds a set of loose wooden planks on the ground nearby. The planks will start cracking, breaking as the two of them stand on them. They'll plunge into a pool of water below, with the surprise swim hurting Laura in her pre-werewolf transformation state.

Laura and Ryan will swim to safety, realising that they've accidentally accessed a series of cave systems flowing beneath the Hackett manor. Ryan will also notice that Laura's werewolf powers have begun kicking in, with her eyes glowing yellow.

It seems a side effect of the curse is the ability to recover from significant wounds on the night of the full moon, with Laura's damaged eye returning to normal and the scars on her face disappearing. Her eyesight might've returned (and she's got some pretty dope Witcher eyes going on), but that also means her full turn is imminent.

Infiltrating Hackett Estate

Once you regain control, head to the opposite side of the pool of water Laura and Ryan dropped into.

You'll find a small black box. Open it up and Laura will discover a note inside. After she's done reading it, we'll officially add the Miner's Lunchbox Note clue to our collection.

Head back to the opposite side of the pool and look for a set of steel steps on the left. To the left of these steps, you'll find a pile of tools. Analyse these and Laura will officially add the Old Quarry Tools clue to the collection.

Old Quarry Tools Clue

Once you've analysed the pile, head up the steps and follow the path. It'll lead up and out of the cave via an elevated walkway. Once we've reached the walkway, a short cutscene will play, with Laura and Ryan realising they're being guided by the spectral voice of the Hag of Hackett Quarry.

advertisem*nt

Once that cutscene's over, follow the path until you reach a second cutscene. This next scene will show the railing break, as the pair comment on the safety of the walkway. After you regain control, follow the path until you head through a stone arch into a new area. Before ascending the steps ahead, let's quickly stop and head into the small outcrop ahead (it's circled above).

Once inside the outcrop, the camera will cut to The Lovers tarot card, which will be perched on a higher walkway. Grab it and add it to your tarot card collection.

The Lover Tarot Card

Once that's done, ascend the stairs and you'll trigger a cutscene. The scene will show a section of the steps collapsing under Ryan's weight, forcing Laura to jump to safety. Hit QTE right to successfully make the jump, grabbing Ryan's hand and clambering onto the platform ahead.

Once the scene is over, continue following the path to the top of the steps. You'll see a pillar. Walk around it until you see a bridge over the chasm below. Instead of crossing the bridge, look to the right to find a mass of flesh on the floor. Investigate it to add the Scarred Flesh to your evidence collection.

Scarred Flesh Evidence

After the flesh is collected, head across the chasm using the bridge, follow the path, stop at the nearby warning sign to hear Ryan crack a terrible joke and continue to the exit. As you reach the wooden arch leading out of the caves, Laura will ask Ryan what his deal is, noting that his status as a brooding loner contradicts his fierce desire to save his camp leader.

advertisem*nt

He'll claim Laura has a problem with him because he doesn't fit in an archetypal box. She'll be able to respond to this in two different ways:

ChoiceOutcome
PatientLaura will ease up on Ryan, coaxing him to open up. He'll explain his respect for Chris. He'll also talk about Kaitlyn and Dylan, claiming they both are into him but he's not sure whether he likes either of them
InquisitiveLaura will ask what box he thinks she's putting him in. Ryan will get annoyed. Laura will mock him for recoiling from confrontation and they'll continue the scene

The pair will walk to the boarded-up tunnel leading out of the caves. We'll have to perform a mash action button QTE to access the tunnel.

Continue following the route. Halfway into the tunnel, the camera will automatically cut to the Wheel of Fortune tarot card, which is trapped behind a barrel. That's another tarot card for our collection.

Wheel of Fortune Tarot Card

The tunnel will lead into the Hackett's cellar. Walk to the opposite side of the room and look at the wooden boxes to the right of the door. Ryan and Laura will find crates of booze inside, confirming that the caves were for rum-running during the prohibition. This isn't a clue, but a nice bit of lore for those wondering why the Hacketts' manor is sitting on the mother of all cave systems.

With the crates of alcohol investigated, all that's left to do is head through the door to your left and officially end the scene.

(Kaitlyn) Returning to the Lodge

We'll now return to Kaitlyn, Dylan and Abi, who are making their way back to the van. When we catch up with the trio, they'll have arrived at the lodge, finding it wrecked from Kaitlyn's run-in with the hunter earlier.

advertisem*nt

Dylan will ask what happened to the lodge and Kaitlyn will be able to respond in one of two ways:

ChoiceOutcome
DismissiveKaitlyn will avoid the question about the damage in the lodge
HonestKaitlyn will admit she had a fight with one of the hunters

The group will discuss the plan once they escape the lodge, claiming they'll come back for Jacob, Emma and Nick after escaping in the van. They'll then head to the van.

If Emma wasn't bitten (or was bitten in Chapter 6), then Dylan will approach the car, open the door and find Emma inside, who will violently spray him in the face with an air freshener. She'll tell them her floral-scented weapon was all she could find in the van and we'll move on with the scene.

If Emma was bitten, things will go a little differently... (if Emma's not bitten or got her bite in Chapter 6, you can skip forward to the Fixing the Van section)

(Potential Death) Battling Werewolf Emma

If Emma was bitten in Chapter 4, this section will be significantly more challenging. Assuming Abi is still with you, the section will start with werewolf Emma leaping out of the car and chasing Abi.

Kaitlyn will pull out her shotgun and we'll be offered a choice. Here are the outcomes for both scenarios:

ChoiceOutcome
RunIf we run, Emma will chase after Abi and pounce on her as she enters the bunker. Emma will tear out Abi's throat, instantly killing her.
ShootIf we shoot, Kaitlyn will get a combat scenario where she'll have to aim at and shoot Emma. If she's successful, Emma will change targets, coming for Kaitlyn and Dylan

advertisem*nt

Assuming you decided to shoot, the fight will continue as the werewolf leaps on top of the van. Kaitlyn will have another combat scenario. Aim at Emma and fire to knock her off the van. she'll fall, get quickly get back up and circle around, standing in front of Kaitlyn and Dylan. Abi will throw you the silver shell Laura made her in the poolhouse earlier and you'll have to make a choice. Here are the outcomes:

ChoiceOutcome
Use Silver ShellsIf you use the silver shell, Kaitlyn will shoot Emma and send her fleeing into the woods. Later in the chapter, we'll realise that the shot killed Emma
Use Regular ShellsKaitlyn will shoot Emma several times, causing her to flee but survive

With the fight concluded, we'll reconverge with the main path.

Fixing the Van

Regardless of if you have to fight werewolves or air fresheners to get there, Kaitlyn will eventually take a look at the van and summarise that spare parts are needed to potentially fix it. The only hope left is to head to the scrapyard.

Dylan will tell Kaitlyn that it sounds like a long shot, allowing us to fire back one of two responses:

ChoiceOutcome
EncouragingKaitlyn will tell Dylan she needs him for the mission
MeanKaitlyn will snap at Dylan, asking him if he has anything better to do

They'll then agree that Dylan and Kaitlyn will head out to the scrapyard. If Abi and Emma are with you in your run, they'll head to the bunker. If only Abi is with you on your run, she'll already be in the bunker and will stay there while Kaitlyn and Dylan go to the scrapyard.

(Ryan) The Hackett's Cellar

We'll now check back in with Ryan and Laura, who have reached the Hackett's cellar. As you regain control, immediately look to the left. You'll see an archway directly next to the shelves of barrels. It'll lead into a side room.

advertisem*nt

Enter the archway and walk towards the centre of the room. The camera will cut to The Empress card. Add it to your tarot collection to get a new vision at the end of the chapter.

The Empress Tarot Card

Now, take a look at the rusty pipes on the left-hand side of the room. Interact with them and we'll get the Rum Still clue.

Rum Still Clue

With the tarot card and clue examined, head out of the archway at the back of the room. Instead of continuing through the cellar and into the room on your left, quickly head right and look for a green propellor hat perched on the shelves. Ryan will pick it up, noticing the name Bobby written on the rim of the hat. This isn't a clue but it gives us a name for one of the Hacketts we've run into several times tonight.

Please note, that heading towards the red-lit archway at the end of the room will trigger a cutscene, voiding your opportunity to pick up the final Tarot Card in the area.

Now, before heading towards the red-lit archway at the end of the room, there is one final Tarot card to find in the cellar.

The Emperor Tarot Card

To pick up The Emperor card, head just right of the propellor hat and follow the path that's lined with wine barrels on shelves. After a few meters, the camera will change its angle and you'll spot the card on a wall.

advertisem*nt

With the hat examined and the final Tarot card picked up, let's now head through the door opposite us and into the red-lit room.

As you approach, Ryan will nearly slip. Hit QTE up and balance yourself to not alert Travis and his mother, who are talking in the lounge above the cellar. Once steadied, Ryan will enter the room and find Jacob locked in one of the cages. He'll point out the werewolf two cages down, which is currently resting.

We'll then get an interruption that gives us the opportunity to open the cage. If we opt to open it, Jacob will be electrocuted by the door, causing a lot of noise that will be heard by Travis and his mother. The better choice is to leave it.

(Potential Death) The Caged Werewolf

After avoiding or testing the door, Ryan will talk to Jacob about using an electrical panel by the door to free him. We'll also quickly cut to the lounge upstairs, as Travis tells his mother that Kaylee was killed earlier in the night.

When we return to the cellar, Laura will begin creeping away from Ryan and towards the werewolf in the other cell. Jacob will notice that she has her gun raised at the werewolf. We'll then get an interruption, as Ryan can choose whether or not to stop Laura. Here are the two outcomes of the decision:

ChoiceOutcome
Stop LauraLaura doesn't shoot the werewolf and the scene continues on, with Ryan talking to Jacob about freeing him
Don't Stop LauraLaura shoots the werewolf, which turns out to be Nick. As she used silver bullets, the shot will kill Nick. Laura will then be captured by Travis who heard the gunshot, moving the scene on. You'll now go to the fortune teller, so click here to skip ahead.

Unless you're planning on doing a run where you let all of the gang die, shooting the werewolf here won't do you much good. You won't be able to save Jacob and it means you'll lose Nick. It's wisest to stop Laura and continue on with the scene.

advertisem*nt

Assuming you didn't let Laura shoot the werewolf, we'll then return to the conversation. After a short back and forth, we'll have to make a choice: Help Jacob or Leave Jacob? This will have consequences leading into the next chapter, so let's run through both outcomes.

If we leave Jacob, he'll stay in the cage as Ryan and Laura head upstairs. Ryan will tell Jacob that he's sure to be safer in the cage than if he was free in the woods. Read the spoiler box below if you want to see a further outcome of this choice.

(Potential Death) Freeing Jacob

If you decided to free Jacob, then we'll have to figure out how to operate the circuit breaker opposite his cage. When looking at the panel, it'll offer four switches: breakers 1, 2, 3 and 4. We'll have to hit these in the right order to open both Jacob's cage and the central cage.

If you open Jacob's cage first and then the werewolf's cage, Jacob will die. Meanwhile, if you open the werewolf's cage first, then the puzzle will end and Ryan will tell Jacob to stay put. The puzzle itself centres around the numbers on the doors. Jacob's door has a 3, the central door has a 5 and the werewolf's door has a 7.

We want to add the breaker numbers together to reach the number on our chosen door. So, here are three possible code combinations that open each door:

DoorBreaker Combination
JacobBreaker 1 + 2
Centre DoorBreaker 1 + 4
Werewolf's DoorBreaker 3 + 4

advertisem*nt

Once Jacob's freed, you'll go find Laura, who's listening to Travis' conversation with his mother through a trap door leading to the lounge. Eavesdrop on the pair until Laura accidentally knocks the trapdoor, causing Travis' mother to grab her. The scene will then end as we head back to the fortune teller.

The Fortune Teller

You know the deal by now. We'll step in here, have a nice old chat with the fortune teller, hear about the cards we found and then move on. The big difference is the fortune teller is unusually chipper during this visit...

Anyway, we'll get the option of looking at The Empress, The Lovers and Wheel of Fortune, so pick one or opt to skip entirely. We'll then get some strangely intense words of encouragement from the fortune teller and head back into the fray.
