Most tieflings in Urban Arcana are humans with horns, although more obvious appearances exist. To regular humans who cannot perceive shadow, they appear to be cynical humans—the horns are not visible to those unable to perceive shadow.

By default, tieflings are extremely rare. The tieflings of the Venomous Demesne have always been in hiding. Planetouched tieflings are most common in the Demon Wastes and rarely ever leave it. If you don't know that a tiefling is connected to fiendish powers, then they are just a person with strange skin and horns.

Tieflings are slow to trust other races as a result of their heritage and subsequent treatment by others. They can be shunned by society, so they become reclusive and aloof. They do establish relationships with half-orcs on occasion since they, too, experience mixed heritage prejudice.
